With my hotchkis 2/4 drop and the adjustable drop shackles...would would be the best way to get to a 4/7 or a 5/8 drop?

5-8 is stupid low for a daily driver on th 99+ trucks, not to mention you'll need to go to a lower profile tire.:read:

Granted. But with my current suspension set up, i'd be willing to go with a 5/8 if i was forced to. It comes down to: i know how to get a 2/4. i know how to get a 4/6. But i don't know how to take my whole set up down another 2" without replacing the current drop. What would i have to do?

dam control arms are 349.95, the hangers are 145.95, and i'd need a C notch too, right?

If you ever go 5/8, your truck would be virtually undrivable meaning you would scrape everywhere you go. Our style trucks are hard enough to drive around with a 5/7.
Don't know if hangers would work to get you the extra 2" plus the shackles you have adjusted to 1".
Don't know if you have your frame notched, but you would have to do that as well. Up front, some DJM 2" arms or 2" Spindles (not recommended) and cutting your spring to get 1" drop could get you down 5". :D
i think it's mad chemist that has the hotchkis 2/4 w/ djm 2"control arms and 2" shackle for a 4/6 drop.

now when i put on my hotchkis 2/4...it didn't sit level, so i added the 1" shackle drop. Obviously i'm going to have to keep that if i want to keep it level. So what? Hangers in the back?

So with your current 2/5 you have 2" springs in the front, drop leaves in the back with a shackle?
What I would do, is get some 2" Western Chassis arms, keep your current spring in the front. For the rear, get ahold of some stock leaves, do an axle flip and set your shackle on 1". That will be a 4/7, it will still be driveable and it will be level.
You could probably make some of your money back by selling the drop leaves too.

i forget you have a 2-5 since your rear still sits about an inch higher than your front. i was thinking from a 2-4 to a 5-8 you brought up earlier........ i left out the dumb@ss factor:crazy: :D

yeah, i think the tire issue is solved....but i'll know for sure this weekend when we pull a wheel.:read: :D but what i don't know (and this is why i'm asking about more static drop) is if they'll still fully tuck...but i'm sure i can roll on a 4/7, no problem.:D
As far as the drop..i'd like to keep the handling if i can...i've really gotten to love how this bish drives:D So i'm think i'm going to go either WC control arms or DJM and hangers out back:D That is, of course, if i don't bag.

I'd just get RJ's setup up front since you want a smooth ride. You should be able to get some decent $$ back for the hotchkis as well. Out back I'd just put in a flip w/ the shackles you already have. :D

also cost wise, i might be able to sell the hotchkis...but i'm not sure. What i do know is that i can keep the hotchkis, and for half the price of a full djm drop, i can get this truck to sit on a 4/7 using current componants.
go get yourself some bags for the front and hook 'em up to some tire valve stems (there is a thread in here about baggin without a compressor or tank that says it's do-able), and get the flip kit and a notch for the back.
that should be relativly painless and inexpensive. then when you get around to it, bag the back, then add in a tank down the road, and a compressor in the end. nice and easy, and in the long run, it'll be bagged!!
plus, if you leave the stock hangers in, then you could just get a bolt in four-link when you bag it!!

:bull: there is no price difference in a the 2 inch arm and 4 inch arm. the flip kit is 50 more than the hanger kit that you can't even get with out shackles that you already have:read:

mood, so what you're saying is to get a 4/7 i might as well just buy the f**king djm and be done with? that there is no real reason to try to salvage my existing componants? F***.
Sack, i don't know how many differnet ways i can word this, but here we go:
1. i am not worried about the cost, i just thought it'd be cheaper to salavge my existing drop.
2. i would like to bag.
3. i don't know that any tire i put on these wheels will tuck enough to bag.
4. i am asking about a static drop because i know that i can get tires that will work with it.

Demon I am in the same bout as you and I have to go lower 2-4 seems stock almost, I am looking for used parts so I dont know waht I am going to do yet, but if you o decide to sell you eibach kit I might have a friend that will buy it if it will fit an 03
dude i'm sorry, i didn't see that you were tryin to keep the kit you had 'cuz i figured you'd sell that, it wouldn't be very hard to sell it on here, there are tons of people that i'm sure are lookin for a drop, but anyways. that aside.
what are you refering to with a static drop? why is that better? what components are part of a static drop?

Static drop is a non-adjustable drop. It's not better then bags, just a different type of drop. The reason i'm having to consider more of a static drop is due to back spacing (or lack of) on my current wheels. Because of this, i can't be sure that my wheels will tuck if i bag the truck if i change tire sizes. But i can be sure that if i get a smaller tire, 235/60 and down, that i can drop down to a 4/7 without there being any issues. This weekend i'm gonna pull a wheel and find out for sure if i can bag.
But here's my next question: if i bag, wouldn't i have to get DJM 4" control arms anyway?

i would say you could bag with those wheels, before you could go 4-7..............................now that you are done laughing at me, and calling me dumb@ss, hear me out. it's one thing to to have the tires withen 1 mm from the fender while the truck is layed out. you don't drive like that. an adjustable suspension with 10 inches of lift can more than compesate the loss of turning radius you would experiance with that same wheel and tire combo on a static drop. the rear is not a problem as they stay straight all the time, but the front tires are all over the place.....especially driving down ruff snow:read: :D

To take it down to 4-6 with the Hotchkisis springs is going to cost virtually the same as buying a new djm 4-6 kit. With the Hotchkis springs, you will need control arms (I used Western Chassis), c-section (I used Bell Tech), shock extenders, shocks, shackles. The main factor being do you want a firm, good handling truck, or do you want a stock ride. I thought the stock ride sucked which is why I did my 4-6 with Hotchkis. It acutally ended up costing much more than a djm 4-6 kit but it was what I wanted.
