hey all,

i have a quick question for those of you that have put true dual exhaust on your TBI motors. what did you do with the O2 sensor? i know some where mounted in the manifold, but others like mine are in the pipe.

did yal just leave it on the one side it was on? jus checkin if thats an ok thing to do

thanks

I have 2.5" true duals on mine. The 02 sensor is just before the collector on my driver's side header. I have Hooker long tubes.

Well every TBI truck I have ever owned has had true duals so here goes. The 92 has the O2 in the drivers header collector on my Edelbrocks, its fine. My old 95 GMC van had it in the drivers pipe right below the manifold and it was fine. My 94 was weird, it had the O2 near the back of the cab, would have originally been after the cat, it was a 3 wire heated O2 but that one was odd none the less but again in one pipe and it was fine. It doesn't make any difference as long as the O2 stay's hot enough it works about anywhere. It only reads one bank originally anyhow because if its below one manifold it can't read the other. Some guys make the mistake to put them too far away and they won't get hot enough, or long tube headers can cause that too, but if thats the case just convert to a heated 3 wire O2, easy job.

thanks guys,

ya i figured it would still read just as good being as some trucks have it in the exaust manifold on the driver side.

but yeah mine is after the y pipe right before the cat. if i ever went true duals(illegal style :rocking: ), then ill just leave it about where it is.

i have a 3 wire one in there stock BTW. damn expensive:bawl: :D

In stock form the O2 is in the manifold farely close to the head. Aftermarket headers usually have a spot for the O2 at the collector. This does bring up one problem: The O2 sensor will have more lag with its output to the ECM. Simply because its further away from the head. This usually won't cause major problems in stock/ nearly stock motors.

Do not put the O2 sensor any further back in your exhaust system, you will have some part throttle fueling problems (small ones that you wouldn't notice without a scanner).
