I have a 2002 Silverado Ext Cab with stock door speakers an old kicker amp and 2 10" MTX subs, and a Panasonic head unit. I want to start replacing the speakers subs and amp piece by piece starting with the doors. Can you guys offer some suggestions on building up a good sounding system? I listen to all kinds of music: Country, Rock, Rap, Alternative, etc. I was thinking Components for the front, 4x6 plates for the rear new subs and a new amp to push them, but I don't know much about audio. Any suggestions on brand, etc... would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jason
BTW - I have a Farenheit DVD player and 2 Power Acoustic 5.6" screens (1 mounted right now) also.

Do yourself a favor and go to an audio store and demo EVERY component set they have!!
The sound differences are amazing. Find a set that YOU like.

You also need to worry about budget, because any mid range- high end component set should be amped
notive to readers, these are my opinions on car stereo and what i like from what i have personally heard, and i am not afraid to spend a little extra money to buy what i think is nice and not have anything ever go wrong with it. and i used this website because of the free shipping, pretty good customer service, and i knew they had some good items too, not just low line wholesale APEX stuff.
one more thing, i am not saying that everything else sucks, i just do not have experience with other brands like 'Image Dynamics' or anything like that.
what i would reccamend:
new deck(i'm not a fan of panasonic, doesn't sound good to me)
great ALPINE:

good ALPINE:

nice PIONEER:

good PIONEER:

front doors, i have the top of the line from MB Quart in this size in my front doors with 350 watts rms 700 peak going to each side and they sound soo good, these with a nice amp will be great.
MB Quarts 6.5" components:
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/caraudio/product.asp?sku=11041
rear speakers, a bunch of my friends have them after hearing my truck and love them MB Quarts 4X6:
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/caraudio/product.asp?sku=11803
for these speakers get a nice 4 channel amp:
best PPI:
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/caraudio/product.asp?sku=11717
great PPI:
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/caraudio/product.asp?sku=11718
i haven't experienced this amp, but i had good luck with the older ones, and this one would also go well as a sub amp(so maybe just two of these, 1 for the mids and highs, the other bridged to the 2 subs). Crunch:
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/caraudio/product.asp?sku=13165
subs(without getting a new box for kicker squares!! or spending that much money)
12's
high end ALPINE, the pic is wrong in this one, it's supposed to say 12 on the cone
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/caraudio/product.asp?sku=11610
lower level(not lowest) ALPINE
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/caraudio/product.asp?sku=12082
Kicker Comp VR 12(contains another misprint)
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/caraudio/product.asp?sku=13266
10's
same reccamendations(and same order) as above, but cheaper and smaller!!
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/caraudio/product.asp?sku=12081
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/caraudio/product.asp?sku=12084
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/caraudio/product.asp?sku=13267
for a sub amp
best
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/caraudio/product.asp?sku=11713
p.s. when i say best, it means best bang for your buck, there are more powerfull everything, but these reccamendations would mix and match without any problems, so when i said best, it is the best of the choices that i listed.

Thanks for the replies fellas!
I have always had throw together systems that sounded o.k. but were not used to their full potential. I live in an area that has to Independent Stereo Shops that have a limited selection (Of course we have Circuit $hitty, Best Buy, Micky Shorr Chain Stores), so my shopping locally is not really possible. The other problem is I know music, I just don't know JACK about putting togehter a system and then tuning it once I buy it (once again no help locally). I am kinda looking around the web trying to educate myself a little bit (reading install how-to's, etc...), but I really need to rely on the opinions of others. I will be building this up literaly one speaker at a time, so I have a long road ahead, I just figured that you guys have already bought systems for the same vehicle I have could educate and enlighten me.
Thanks Again,
Jason:FSCrules:
