What to do with truck bed.....

Okay, I'm planning my backhalf but I am a little confused about what to do with the bed. I will be creating a nice frame and bridge which I'd like to be able to show. The hole in my bed will be fairly large (larger than the 3x3 hole there is now) and wonder if I should just build a nice removable cover with wheel tubs OR should I have a tilt bed where the pivot is at the tailgate end of the bed exposing all of the rear frame? The concern I'd have would be how secure the bed would be as I still plan on driving this and would hate constant squeks and awkward bed movement. I know about locking it down with lockpins etc but just sounds like I'd be asking for lots of noice and odd movement.

Ideas?

I think the hinge idea sounds really cool. I think I would get some pins and then mount everything with rubber bushings. Also, you could coat the bottom of the bed in bedliner, I hear its a good sound deadener.

:word: That would be :rocking: Especially if you were to make it like 1/2" thick, shine it up really good, and drill small holes around the edges every inch or so and put LED's in it........:drool:


EDIT: A set of xmas lights would work too....:think:

I like the plexiglass idea....but over that large of a surface it'd have to be thick a$$ glass not to sag...which means real costly. But i'm sure we can fix that problem if that's the way you want to go. we could also hinge from the cab side and gas shock it like a bed cover (only stronger shocks).

you could do plexi boards with ss strips. like so....

Lots of options with the plexi....

like if you ever decide to do a flame theme with ur truck, get someone to lay out some flames on the plexi, hit it with the sandblaster and you have a very cool bunch of flames. Only thing about that is it might crack, but not totally sure.
