I'm getting ready to bid on a 450C, but is this unit able to handle the elements? In other words, can I mount it under the truck? Also, will it be a good replacement for 4 Thomas 175psi comps? Thanks.

Yep, you can mount the compressor under the truck w/o problems. Not sure about your other question though. :read: :D

:word: What he said.

How much is it going for on eBay? You might be able to get them cheaper.

*edit* If you're bidding on this one, then you can be ok: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2412439073&category=42609

But Larry (irsd_mini) sells the chrome 450 for about $190 now.

if you mount it under your bed, you need to mount it rightside up, mine were installed upside down and burned up 2 of them. They said the heat thigs on teh head have to be upright.

Thanks. I got a hold of Larry. He gave a great price on those comps. However, I originally gave you guys the wrong model number (450C). I actually want the 550. Is it true that this unit has to be ran in the vehicle? What do you guys think of this comp?

I've heard of several people having troubles with the 550. That and they're not sealed against moisture and dust. So, even if you do have it in your bed, make sure it's well protected from the elements. For the small added CFM of the 550, I just don't think it's worth it.

Yeah Larry is the way to go.

I'm actually wondering where I put my compressor (it's uninstalled). I think it's in my garage. I'm so unorganized.
