Having trouble with install...

I am having trouble with my install on my 94. There is no plug for a wiring harness in the back of the factory stereo, but my friend told me if I take apart the dash by my knees, then the factory amp is there and the plug I need is in the amp. Is this correct? And can I just plug it in to the wiring harness and connect all the wires? Thanks.

I guess you are putting a new HU in right? Depending on the model and what type of stereo there may be no amp. In my 92 blazer it sat right below the tapedeck. I unpleged it because I neve wanted to use it. All id did was use the factory harness and used the power and acc from that to my deck. AINET connections (IT was an Alpine) to the amp.

After jacking with it a lot now, I just decided to let the local shop (who does installs on Hummers, Ferrari's, and stuff like that), to do it for me LOL. The dash is really hard to deal with, so I don't want to go through all the frustration.
