Alright I'm gettting all this for now: (subs by end of the summer)
Deck: Alpine CDA-9811
Speakers: 6 1/2 Alpine Type R coaxials
4 x 6 Infinity plates speakers 6402cf
Amp: (to run speakers)
Alpine MRP-F240 40 x 4 at 4 ohms
How do you think this will work out? How much would a shop charge me to install this? I will probably be planning on getting two 10 in. subs by the end of the summer to add to it, but this will do for now.
What will a shop do with the built in amp for the deck? will it just not be used since I am amping the speakers?
Well thanks guys let me know so I can get planning. Oh by the way I have a 2000 Chevy silverado reg. cab. base everything but I like it.
Personally I wouldn't replace the rears. In a reg. cab they are right in your ear. Don't get new ones and use the extra money to get better front speakers. If you do that, just get a 2 channel amp around 75x2 to power them.
Around here a shop would charge at least $125 to install that, not counting wiring.
The shop will put a line out converter on the factory head to use the new amp. BTW, the factory head sucks and I would replace it before I did the speakers.

Our shop charges:
Deck - $45
Parts for deck - $40
4 speakers - $65
4 channel amp $72
Amp power kit - $45
4 channel interconnects - $40
30 ft roll of speaker cable - $15
You'll love the Type-R's. They are some of the best coaxials out right now. If your an SQ nut then you will definitly want to replace the rears. That Alpine deck will end up blowing the stockers after a couple of weeks.

SFAKeith what shop do you work at? Wow I wasn't expecting it
too cost that much for installation but if its done right its alright.
Will the 40 x 4 amp be a good enough investment or should I just
forget the amp and get an Alpine with the built in V-drive amp
would this be better or almost equivalent?

The Alpine's with the V-drive feature definitely put out more power than a conventional 50x4 watt deck. It all depends on what you are looking for. A 60x4 watt amplifier is going to put out alot more power than a 60x4 watt deck (I don't care what anybody says). So, it all depends on what you are looking for. If you like to listen to it loud and still want sound quality, then I would say definitely get an amp. Alpine makes a 60x4 watt amp MRPF240 (http://www.alpine-usa.com/html/D2_n_1_n_n.html). This is an excellent low cost 4 channel amp. It will put out more power at lower distortion levels which means better sound quality.
