Hey guys, I'm starting to add up the costs for my new engine and how I want it to be setup. Here is what I have laid out right now.

Caprice TBI engine from Paceparts (direct bolt up with more horses) $1500.00

Eldebrock 350-60859 TBI heads $569.99

Eldebrock Intake Manifold 350-3704 $219.99

Flowtech Afterburner headers (free from friend, Gonna get new gaskets and thread locking bolts) I know they aren't the greatest.

Do you guys think that I will need to buy a chip for this setup or will the stock computer be ok? Also, if anyone knows where I can get some cheaper TBI heads,I've heard about toplines, but im not sure where to find them and all that good stuff. Thanks

your doing good, but why the cylinder heads? save the dollars
and put them into something thatll provide strength or power
betterment. the heads are good, dont get me wrong, but on TBI
itll make the powerband narrow for use. the larger valve size will
create issues below 2000rpm, and youll definantly have to use a
custom chip.
as for the intake and engine combo.. should be dead on, using your
stock chip will yield some goo results, but an upgrade will make
all the advantage of the cam profile (roller).

Why does the Caprice motor make more HP? How much more?

Roller cam. Im not sure how much more. But its just begging for a better cam. I know a guy who put a gmpp ramjet/383 roller cam in it and said it ran great. Could pull anyone up to 40 at which point the heads are the limiting factor. As I recall he said the set up even ran good on the stock chip he had though he tweaked it more it still ran good on the stocker. Thats because that cam is really mild. A nice piece for a tbi 350
