I am going to put the o2 simms on my truck. Will it effect my emissions testing? Our county just went to the stricter emission testing. (Montgomery Co.) I didn't know if it would show up on their computer. I heard from one guy that using them would result in a fine. has anyone heard this before? And is there a difference in the ones you buy or make your own kind?

The o2 simms will be fine. The only problem you may have is if you do not have cats and they use a tailpipe sniffer. That sniffer will tell them whether or not you have cats and whether or not they are good or bad.

If you have cats and you have the o2 simms you'll be fine.

Why do you want to use o2 sims if you have cats? I thought o2 sims "tricked" the computer into thinking you had cats. As Cam stated, if they use a tailpipe sniffer, you will not pass without cats:read:

Because the sensors are 78.00 ea. I am getting a code and the ses light stays on. This code P0420 relates to the sensors and I just replaced the front ones. So it must be the rear ones.

WhtZ71 this codes is related to the the rear (after Cat) O2 sensor on Bank 1 (Drivers side of the truck), The GM book in short says to check for burnt, shorted wires to this O2 sensor, 0430 code is the (passenger side) Bank 2 of the truck. It also says to check for weak spark conditions or retarded spark, have you changed or checked your distributor cap lately? The Vortecs do not like the cheaper caps & rotors that you get at some of the mass auto parts stores. If you want the entire T/S guide PM me with your e-mail address & I will scan them & mail it to you.

Im sure the O2 simms will take care of the light issue, But Im not sure about passing the emission testing, never been down that road.
