If i get a spacer for my 5.7, should i get fuel line extensions as well, or will it be okay? and btw is the procedure any different from this?
1) take off K&N Gen 2
2)remove throttle body
3)place spacer on top of intake manifold
4)replace throttle body
5)replace K&N Gen 2.......now thats all i could think of, but how much slack reduction am i gunna get for the throttle cables?

any advice would greatly help, thanks :read:

you forgot....

0.5 Relieve pressure in fuel system.

2.5 Install new TBI gaskets above and below the spacer.

I personally don't think the fuel line spacers are necesary. They cost $20, just to save you from having to crawl under the truck. If you have a 4x4, the fuel lines will be more of a challenge, but loosening the nut is easy for the 2wd's. There is plenty of slack in the lines to install the TBI spacer. :read:

If you can change your oil, then the whole job shouldn't take you more than an 45 min.

will my GMC Factory Repair manual show me how to release the pressure? and does the spacer come with the other items?

You can relieve the fuel pressure by removing the gas cap, but I like to be cautious and unplug the fuel pump relay under the black box on the passenger side of the firewall. The relay looks like a 1.5" block box. Pull it apart and start the truck. Let it run untill it dies. That should only take about 5 seconds. Then remove the K&N, and get to work. I still hold a rag around the fuel lines when I disconnect them, just to catch the dripping fuel.

You can get the gaskets at any local parts store. You will need two now. One between the intake manifold and the spacer, and one between the TBI and the spacer.

That's why we're here.

The fuel lines are on the back side of the TBI. ONce you get up there and take the K&N off, they won't be hard to spot.

I edited mine too.

The nut that you need to loosen to free up the fuel lines is on the top of the bellhousing.

You might want to check out this thread:

Basically, I'm giving it another shot this weekend, but you might want to check out the clearance on the fuel line bracket before you do anything else. I'm using a ratchet that turns when you twist the handle and a fine-ratcheting ratchet from Craftsman this weekend to try to get the bracket off, I'll let you know what works.

BTW, the TBIs have a bleed valve with bleeds off the pressure in the fuel system, so all you'll technically need to do is relieve the pressure in the gas tank by taking off the cap. However, 91_Bowtie's suggestion is a good one, and it's always a good idea to have some rags handy when playing with fuel lines, just in case...

I have a ton of pics, I'll put some up so you can see what the TB looks like. That part will be easy, it's the :cussing: bracket that makes it a little difficult :-)

Take Care,

4.5) Install TB with 3 longer bolts, that hopefully came in the kit, along with the extra gasket.:D

And just for the record, i simply used two adjustable wrenches, and unhooked the fuel lines from the TB. Then re-attached them, with no problem there or at the throttle bracket.

i did this a while back and i need an extension but couldnt find any places that had extensions within the time that i need to get my truck back up and running amazingly i found a gas line extension at home depot that worked (i only needed one extension.) but ill be taking it off soon to put on the first aem brute force intake and body spacer for the early 90's 1500 in about a month or so when theyre done producing it. :rocking:
