View Full Version : Thinking about maybe getting satelite radio

with all the travelling i do i'm thinking about maybe getting the satelite radio. i've heard of 2 brands, XM and Sirius. just wondering if there is much of a difference between the two, and which you prefer???
Also, is it cheaper to just get the satelite units which will run off the stock radio, or is it better to just get a new headunit that is already equipped with the satelite radio??? or do you still have to buy the xm or sirius stuff to make it work????

I wondered about that too. XM or Sirius users let us know what you think about the service and the equipment.
Thanks in advance,

i stopped by audio express on teh way to school(it's jsut down the street from where i park) and didn't check on the sirius, since he said you'd have to buy a new head unit, while the XM can use an adapter or something and run off the stock system and then plug into a headunit at a later date. they wanted $250 for the xm system(can't remember which one it was) and then whatever teh adapter costs. so not sure if that's a good price or not.
The guy also said that the headunits that come with the xm are really jsut xm adaptable, meaning you still have to buy the xm setup.
not sure if this is all accurate or not, but thats what this guy said. this is only the first place i've really looked, so i do plan on still doing a lot more shopping around first

XM is definitely the way to go. They have about 10 times the users that Sirius does. If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me. Also check out www.xmradio.com
