What do you want for the short block? Crank, rods, pistons, timing cover, oil pan, and related nuts and bolts?
Do you have the intake for it?
THanks,

This is a discussion on Complete L-29 Vortec 454, intake to pan within the Engine & Drivetrains forums, part of the For-Sale category; I have a '97 1-ton truck with a L29 Vortec engine with 130K on it that I'll be pulling out ...
I have a '97 1-ton truck with a L29 Vortec engine with 130K on it that I'll be pulling out in the next couple of days. It was supposedly running, then wouldn't start one day. I'll pull the pan, intake, heads to check for problems. My suspicion is that the intake coolant sensor went out and it filled a cylinder with gas, then wouldn't turn over. At any rate, I have another block that I've already had machined and I'm stroking it to a 489, plus I have a new complete intake, so the original one will go with the engine. I'll have to keep the accessories and brackets along with the oil pan (unless I can get one I have with a bigger sump to fit on this 4WD), but I'd like to sell everything else as a long block. If everything checks out with no damage, I'll sell it for $1000 plus the ride. Email me if you're interested so I can figure out whether to sell it complete or part it out.

THanks,
It'll come out this weekend. I got enough apart last weekend to know that it turns over fine. I'll post my findings as soon as I have the pan off.
