This is a discussion on 2000 5.3 complete minus harness, starter, and alternator within the Engine & Drivetrains forums, part of the For-Sale category; I have the 5.3 motor out of my 2000 Chevy Tahoe. Im pulling the motor because i purchased a 6.0 ...
I have the 5.3 motor out of my 2000 Chevy Tahoe. Im pulling the motor because i purchased a 6.0 to swap in. This motor is complete minus the starter and alternator. Also no wiring harness. If you are putting this into a 99-07 chevy/gmc it is a direct swap. Every plug is the same. Great upgrade from the 4.8L that comes in some trucks. The motor has 150k on it, not a single problem. oil always changed at 3k miles. Does not leak any oil or other fluids. Like i said im pulling it for a 6.0 since the heave tahoe needs a little more power. They sell complete wiring harnesses online if you want to swap it into a project vehicle or if you have a v6 in your truck. This will bolt up to any 4l60e tranny with no issues, or a 4l80e if you change the flexplate, which i have for both motors.
$650 obo
The motor will be pulled out next weekend (8/15/09) and ready for sale
Computer can be purchased here for $70

Wiring harness can be purchased here if swapping out a v6 or into a random vehicle..use stock harness if swapping out 4.8/5.3

Nelson Performance is one place that makes the harnesses..there are others out there but ive heard great thing about them..works out great if your going from a v6 to a v8..if you already have a 4.8 or a 5.3 you just use your harness that is in the truck along with your starter, alternator, and flexplate

i talked to the guys at Nelson & they make standalone units, but as far as just modifying a factory harness to go from an auto trans to manual, they don't really do that. my old engine is a v6 & i'm putting in a 5.3, but it's almost impossible to find a 5.3 with a manual trans harness, so i either need to find someone who can change the wiring or just sell me one from a 4.8/5 spd because i really don't wanna modify mine myself

not to hijack, but how do you know what to charge for a motor? I'm looking to sell one.
