Tailight Tinting

I have been doing some tails and brake lights and I thought maybe some other members might want some of this done too. I have done a 2006 Harley Steet Glide and it looked awesome, Ive done a ton of silverado tails and a few cars, they look really nice. I will try and post a few pics soon.

With the nbs trucks I will prolly do an exchange program 03-up and with the other tails or any lights that need to be tinted I will do and send back. I have some lights in stock and have a great source for lights so if u want to just have me buy them tint them and ship them I can do that also.

yea, its the same thing as smoked tails, I can do any darkness, if you want them really deep, or really light, its up to you! I am thinking prolly about 50 or so shipped back to ya.

3rd brake lights also.... any lights for that matter, parks, fogs, ect. we can work out a deal on anything other than just a pair of tails, so more stuff will save you money.

Here is a buddys car we did these really dark, I can go darker but I like how this looks. I will get the pics of the harley asap, but for now there is a pic of the dark and the silverados up top are lighter. Let me know what you guys wanna do.

What do you use to tint them? Some of those cheapo aftermarket spray on tints fade pretty quickly with exposure to the sun. Are you adding a clearcoat on top afterwards? Please explain your process a bit more, I am looking for a really high quality job.

I use base clear just like I use on customer paint jobs, its not a tinting kit or anything, Its cleared after its all done. The tails in the 99 pewter truck are going on 3 years now.

how much to smoke a set of 88-98 tails fairly dark i have the lights i can send them out and pay the extra to have them sent back let me know asap

what are we lookin like for a time frame on the turnaround you think? i might have to do this to my 04z71!! your works looks great man! also you have any idea what wheel/ tire size that is in your pic at the top with that blue z71?

No, I meant what is the tint spray made of? It's not night shades I hope.

I tint it with black basecoat. Then I clear over it. There is no "tinting agent" I use.


The blue truck is my old one and I only have those two pics of it with that setup.

The other one is my friends with the mtzs and I can post some in snapshots and vids.

The turn around is as fast as you can get me the lights, I will tint them, then one day for hardening, and I will send them back to ya. So prolly bout a week.

a buddy did this same process on my old tuner.
looked great and lasted forever.
I went dark like the car in this thread and loved the look. also I never got any probs from the police about it, which is rare around here.
I just figured the ponitacs are pretty dark so I'll just argue it in court if I do get into trouble.

I was getting ready to do this, but I was going to mix some black with the clear, but it appears that sprayin the basecoat then clear works well to. How many coats of base did you put on the Chrysler further up?

50 for tails and 75 for tails and 3rd brake light.
