Hey guys, currently looking for a 454ss rear axle, or a 14 bolt axle out of a c2500. Would maybe consider a 10 bolt.

I'm aware of the price of a 454ss axle, and WILL pay you well for one.

Everyone let me know what you have for a rear axle. please state gear size, and whether it's open diff, POS GM Posi, or an aftermarket POSI, and which kind. Preferable also a price. Thanks guys.

Niiiice, let me know if you find anymore, that guy doesn't seem to like the idea of shipping it. I'd buy it if it wasn't for that.

brandon....if your thinking yours wont hold, and considering a 12/14 bolt...consider how much hp they'll eat up when you get your motor done. better axles in that 10 bolt should hold what you throw at it just fine.

Reason im looking at one is because of two reasons, just give me feedback in response, maybe im wrong here:

    1. My 10 bolt was bent when I got in a wideswipe accident in July. It was the other guys fault, so his insurance company fixed everything, but apparently didn't notice my axle was bent. And to be honest I don't feel like going back and telling them it was bent, because they were dinks to me because they were trying to make excuses about my truck being a racing truck or something because of my fuel cell (don't ask).

    2. I figured a little heavier 12 bolt would account for the traction problems allen has had on the street. If i got a 12 bolt, along with my fuel cell mounted in the rear, that's going to help a lot with traction. Just an idea.

What do you think? I have a lead on one right now that I can hopefully get for 500.00 (454ss rear axle) and i sure as hell know I can't get a new 10 bolt housing, 3.73 gears, and posi for that, can I?

I have one sitting out in my garage that I am holding on to, picked it up for 200 bucks locally.

After looking at it and seeing how heavy it was compared to the 10 bolt I decided not to add all that weight right now. I may swap it in down the line, but for now I am sticking with a 10 bolt with an auburn posi and 3.73s and see if I can get any traction.

I take it those people didn't realize how much they're going for? Local junkyards want 500.00 for a 10 bolt with 3.73's and the ****ty ass GM Posi or locker or whatever they call it.

they are different lug patterns also right? slmdlt1 would have to change a few things in the rear suspension also. the reason along with the added weight, and they will eat more of your hp and get a lil less to the ground. i'd take a good 10-bolt over a 12/14 bolt unless i makle gobs of hp(thats when the strength becomes an issue imo, not now with 400 or less rwhp), which i wont...like 800+

Axle saddles and U bolts I believe. Basically if it wasnt dropped already it would be simple because you can buy a 454ss rear kit and be done with it.

The guy knew what he had, that why it was cheaper. Said noone wanted it, they all needed stock replacement 10 bolts :)

You sure you want to buy from that guy?
6 hours is a long way to drive for a worn out rearend.
Look at that guys feedback. I would never bid on something like that from a newbie with 2 neg in the past month...

Your dime but buyer beware.... I mean look at the tires on the rearend. Ya they could be to roll it around but I doubt it.

    1. Where can I get a hold of 454ss Ubolts and saddles? Can I just get new ubolts for a 14 bolt? or will 10 bolt due?

    2. Do I need any type of new joints to connect the driveshaft to it? if so what in specific?

454ss, can you take a pic of both of these on one of your 454ss's?

Unless you pushing MAJOR hP there's no reason to run the big/heavy rear. What do you/will you have done power wise?
