  • how to remove rust from chrome wheels

I was wondering what the easiest and cheapest way was to remove some rust from a set of chrome wheels? I used and S.O.S. pad and got some off but is there any easier way?

What type of wheel? Steel or alloy? How much rust are we talking about? Got a pic?

X2 on the wire wheel cleaner. i use to have wire wheels back in the day that had rust on them. I got the spray from carquest. all you have to do is spray it on. you might want to clear coat it or something when it dries, cause the rust will eventuall come back. It doesn't hurt the wheel finish at all

Glass cleaner, #0000 steel wool then wax them to keep them from rusting further.

My dad taught me to remove rust off of chrome with steel wool and coca-cola, seems like using a wire wheel would be a lot quicker.

we aren't talking about using a wire wheel on it. Its a spray specially made for cleaning the old school wire wheels, like daytons

I have heard to rub aluminum foil on it the rusted area using coca cola as a lubricant. Have not tried it myself but it might be worth a shot

yeah go to carquest and get some wheel cleaner spray that is specially for wire wheels. you just spray the stuff on and then hose it off. rust will be gone. I was amazed myself when I used it back in the day. of course my rust would come back after a few days because i never clear coated it or anything afterwards
