  • 2011 3500HD Dually Wheels 17" ???

    Hey All,

I'm going from an 07 3500 dually to a 2011 on Monday -- I want to keep my 16" wheels/tires/spacers but I can't find any website or information that tells me if the 16s will fit on the 2011.

I read somewhere that the WT version of the 2011 3500HD came with steel 16" wheels, but on Chevy's site when "building" a WT it comes with 17s and even the spare for all models is >= 17".

Can anyone tell me if they increased the rotor size so that 16s will no longer fit.

    Any help would be great!

    Thanks!
    Jamie

    From the 2011 Press Release:
    Large brakes

Brake feel and performance are greatly improved with the 2011 Silverado HD trucks. The standard four-wheel disc system is completely revamped to deliver smoother, more immediate and confident-feeling performance. Four-wheel, four-channel ABS is standard on all single-rear-wheel models and a three-channel system is standard on dual-rear-wheel models.

The front and rear rotors are larger in diameter – 14 inches (355 mm) – and width on all models to support their increased capacity, weight ratings and trailering ratings, while the calipers are stiffer and stronger. The hydroboost brake booster calibration is revised for reduced pedal effort and the travel of the pedal is also revised for a more comfortable, confident feel.

Larger wheel hub and bearing assemblies complement the new brake system and the rear rotors attach to the wheel hubs for easier servicing.

Specifically, dually wheels are 17" and SRW's are 18".
    Front rotors are 13.97" x 1.57", Rears are 14.17" x 1.34"

    For comparison purposes, the 2007 HD rotors are 12.8" x 1.2" front and 12.8" x 1.5" rear.

So yeah, it sounds like your 16's won't carry over.

my dad recently picked up a 2011 silverado 3500, I do believe they upped the size of the brakes, as his 2009's brakes seem smaller by looks, they changed some stuff on 2011, would not be surprised if the brakes are bigger.

Everyone was correct, now to find a set of OEM steel wheels for my winter tires. Does anyone know of a set of these for sale? Thanks, Jamie

                Re: 2011 3500HD Dually Wheels 17" ???

I'm still searching for a set (six) of these steel OEM wheels for my 2011 3500HD, snow season is nearly done here in Vermont and I'm looking to get my studded tires off the truck. I don't want to dismount the tires BUT I also don't want to pay the dealer price for steel wheels. I also have no interest in going to the larger wheels 20+ or even 19.5 -- the stock wheels are fine --- Anyone have any take-offs??? Please pass the word.

                Thanks,
                Jamie
