    i got a 93 c1500 nv3500 350. i drive on and offroad posi or a locker ????????

    get something that replaces the entire carrier whatever you get. posi will be more street friendly, but the locker will be better off road. its a matter of give and take.

      Eaton posi or Tru Trac. Detroit lockers are too expensive imo. Too expensive for a ten bolt. If you have a 14 FF the price is right, plus it's basically your only option for posi/locker.

        If you are a weekend wheeler and don't beat it too hard then a posi is your best bet. Doesn't have teath to chew up on the street and the clutches will last half of forever.

          I agree about the lockers, here is a link of the Eaton Detroit Locker and it has very similar "dog-teeth" that must ride on each other when the locker is "unlocked" like when turning coreners. These will eventually wear out, just liek the Lockrite from Powertrax.

          I do hear of these wearing out, and IIRC, the carbon fiber clutches cant be used with the optional 800lb preload springs.

            Have you considered any of the lunchbox lockers? They act just like a Detroit. Never tried any myself, but from what i understand they are strong enough for 90% of people, cheaper, and easier to install.

              Always heard good things about the True Trac torsion differential. Buy one of those, but weld the spider gears together on the stock open rear in the mean time and see how long it'll last

                I would get a posi, not a locker. But its up to you.

                Auburn and Detroit are the only options I know of for a 10.5. An Auburn is like 700 bucks though. But thats what Im going to end up with in mine, I dont want a full detroit with a loose converter, it'll be locked any time the truck is moving.

                  The lunchbox lockers are really for someone on the cheap side without alot of power and not alot of use.

                  When you say you drive on and offroad, how much do you do? Is it mostly street or mostly offroad? What is your idea of offroad?

                  If you want all out offroad performance, then the locker would be better choice. The only real option for a locker is a Detroit Locker. I've never heard of anyone breaking one. But I have heard of people breaking a lunchbox locker or their factory carrier using a lunchbox locker.

                  If the truck sees mostly the street and when you offroad its nothing extreme a limited slip would be fine.

                  If you have enough money and still can't decide, then maybe a selectable locker is a good choice for you.

                    i think im puting a 3/4 ton 14 bolt in the rear but that mite be alittle...... im thinking a limited slip.. i heard bad things bout lockers in the winter.

                      Lockers would help you out in deep snow, but on ice and packed snow they can be a bit tricky.

                      There are 2 3/4 ton 14 bolts that came in these trucks. One is semifloating and one is full floating. Neither of them came in the 2wd 1/2 ton lug pattern.

                        idk if its full or semi its coming out of an truck a gen before this truck to. im getting some noise out of the transmission to a very low deep grounding sound when letting off to go around a bend.

                          wrong. 454 SS trucks came with a 14SF with a 5 on 5 lug pattern... aftermarket shafts are available, so its completely possible to build one using a 6 lug 3/4 ton 14SF.

                            Personally, I would never run a lunchbox locker in any rear application.I just don't think they are strong enough, and by the time you've blown up the first one and replaced it, you could have had a full carrier replacement locker or limited slip.

                              I almost said something about the SS rearend, but he did say a 3/4 ton 14 bolt so I didn't bother saying anything about it.
