i would think so. a 2011 v6 mustang that weighs only like 500lbs less will do low to mid 13's stock.

I was thinking maybe down 240rwhp at the most have over 300+TQ with traction and gear combo should put me in the high to mid 14s. Anybody with real world experience chip in?

Should run 14's. I see a trans build coming up too.

Or 4L80e with a 4.3 G-Van converter, but I am just weird. Back in the day I put a 4L60E in my old 88 2.8 S15 Jimmy and swapped in a custom chipped 7427 TBI PCM from a 95 Astro Van to run it.

With good tuning and those bolt-ons I think 260 hp to the tires is doable. I have seen many stock L31s in the 200 rwhp range.

That stands to reason since they were rated at 255 and 15% loss is around 215.

4000lbs. and 260rwhp puts you at 14.5, so if you're making 300 at the crank that's around where you should be.

If I could squeeze out between245-260 rwhp 320+tq with out a camshaft swap I would be very happy on a stock compression l31. Truck will only go to track maybe 3 times out of the whole year. just trying to have a mid 14s swb obs dd no cam swap if at all possible. I am thinking it is and hope to set out and reach that goal. WIll also be sprayed 100 shot on occasion will be rare though.

Considering I have seen an ECSB TBI run low 15s, with stock swirl port heads and a beyond weak Edelbrock 3702 cam, it is definately possible.

Do you have a intake manifold you recommend for a otherwise tbi l31? Im thinking the Performer 2116 will do?

The 2116 runs out of steam faster than the stock cam does. I would look at the 7116 and give yourself room to grow. I am more of a fan of the 2912 however on a TBI, but tuning can present challenges on that one.

                        I didn't know they ever used an 80e behind a 4.3

Yep 3/4 and 1 ton vans had the 4.3/4L80E combination. You could also get the 305 in front of one in the 2500 Express. The newer express vans run the 4.8/4L80E. The information I have found, suggests all 3 setups used the B82 high stall 4L80E converter.

Good info. That would be the trans to find at the parts yard, the 80e would have had a good stress free life behind a 4.3.
