  • Ram Jet 350 ---> NOS or supercharger for more hp...

    Just got some ideas running through my mind. How nos or supercharger friendly is the RJ350? I figure a nos system would be cheaper and easier to hook up but does anyone offer a contrifugal kit for this crate engine? Also, I know the RJ350 has the handheld "tuner" and wonder if this is capable of dealing w/ nos and boost parameters w/o too much fuss.

    Nitrous would be the easiast if you go wet kit. Be careful though since the pistons are just hypers. What also amazes me is the ramjet is only 2 bolt mains. No forged rods or crank like the ZZ4.

    As of right now I dont know of anyone who can program mefi-3 controllers. S&P would be the only place I could think that might be able to but Im not sure. Ask airdeano about that.

      You can't run either on it. The computer is sealed and can't be tampered with. Other then minor bolt-ons the RJ's can be "messed" with.

        I dont see a problem with running a wet nitrous kit in moderation. THe extra fuel from the wet kit will compensate for the nitrous. Especially since they ramjets dont use an o2 sensor It couldnt tell if it was rich or lean anyways. Just uses map and tps. Its all open loop. There are people who have been trying to figure out someway to program them. Well and now Westers programs the mefi 3 controllers from both ramjet motors for 280. Check out their website http://westers_garage.eidnet.org/scprice.htm Scroll down to just below the diesel stuff.

              just what are you looking to achive?
              the RJ350 can be converted to a closed loop, by using a 7730 and
              a converted or new harness. AS&M sell an "upgrade" to do the
              same $1500 (duhh). and it shouldnt run that no more than $700
              with a computer and starting chip.
              so now the unknown is known. you feed it what you want...
              pick up the pieces later!!!
              so far what i know is the MEFI3 is programmable. but only with
              a few that are involved. weve chatted with GM about being a
              burner to reprog the MEFI boxes. well know at SEMA. the MEFI4 is entirely
              different and laptopable. but again marine life isnt as glorious as
              street. something is arye about a speed density vortec...

                Budget. To do a RJ the way I would ideally want it would be beyond my current budget. I know I can mod a zz4 the way I want it less expensively but I'm still toying around w/ combos.

                Your advice is well appreciated...thanks again

                I like the RJ platform but the whole upgrade for more adjustability blows the budget.
