  • What causes this tire lean?

    My 1999 stock Tahoe;

    This is at full crank turnning into a parking spot - the tire seems to REALLY lean!

    I had new generic shocks and an allignment last year. I did notice that the truck seemed to sit a tad lower after the new shocks.

    The tires are wearing choppy...like this sorta;

    When the tires are faceing forward does it still have the lean? If so go get another alignment.

      The tires are wearing funny because of lack of rotation and possibly even under inflation. The lean is caused by too much Camber. My guess is it happened last year when you had it aligned. This also might be caused by worn upper and lower control arm bushings.

        Tires are straight when facing forward....

        Thats a big 10-4 on the lack of rotation and actually - they were OVERinflated for a while...

          The wear is lack of rotation. The lean you see with the tires turned is normal for all 4 wheel drive chevy's.

            Yay!:rocking:

            On a related note - my ride quality sucks! I get what I consider to be alot of body roll.....i kind of have to brace my ass in the seat when cornering and my Wife CONSTATLY complains about it (I know, I know......)The sterring is a bit sloppy as far as play in the wheel....

            What can I do to improve my ride?

                  it sounds like most of your front end is bad; bushings, ball joints, etc.

                    Wouldnt there be some sort of noise associated with that - clunking or something? Wheel pulling occasionally?

                    Would they have noticied that when doing the front brakes/shocks/allignment last spring - (May 2007)?

                      typically don't make noise but they should have caught that when doing those things last spring!

                        Is there anything that I can look for - with a VERY uneducated eye?

                            it is worth the extra dough for better shocks go with bilsteins ya don't need the high dollar ones seeing its a stock vehicle,maybe look into installing a better roll bar in the rear,beleive it or not installing a lift made mine ride lots better and there was nothing wrong (no worn out parts)in the suspension...also the roads in that area aren't much better than kingston or the surrounding areas

                              I would LOVE to lift it...but wont fit in the parking garage at work... God would I LOVE to lift it!

                              Is it possible that Monroe put the wrong shocks on it?
