  • 2007 silverado classic OBD2 Code reader not reading ?

So my sisters 2007 silverado classic check v6 check engine light came on.

I plugged in my OBD2 Code reader and It would not read or be powered by the plug as it normally does.

I searched and found others say I would either need a (can reader ?) or there is a fuse that is out.

I searched all the fuses and did not find anything that was out. Also the cig lighter and every other feature works on the car.

    Anybody else experience this?

    Thanks

I had trouble getting my 07 classic to read the other day. It was -10'F outside, and the code reader in my buddy's truck.

After a little time and a few power cycles, it read fine. Took about 2 min to actually connect when it finally did though.

but didnt show the ( vehicle Link) icon, then it wouldnt even power it on.

Yeah, was doing the same thing to me. Would read my buddy's 02 Sonoma right away, but took some time to connect to my Sierra.

if it doesnt work after a few tries, check the fuse, most of the time the data link and the cig plug in are on the same fuse and they like to blow alot

You likely have no power at the data link connector because the 15 amp cig lighter fuse in the underhood fuse box is blown.
