  • someone put sugar in my gas tank! what to do?

well i must have pissed someone off cause they put sugar in my gas tank. i pulled up at the gas station and found this and tasted it and it was sugar. i got one of my buddy's that has a tow service to tow it back to my house. i was gonna drain the tank and change the filter but i didnt even see a filter. so what should i do? it hasnt seamed to messed anything up yet and i want to keep it that way.

Bad news. Sugar doesn't dissolve in gas, so it may as well be sand in there.

No serviceable filter on your truck. Only the sock on the pick-up tube.

Drop tank and have it flushed. Make sure the filler neck gets flushed too. Or buy a tank from junk yard

You're ok with a large quantity or coarse granular material in your gas tank?

Re: someone put sugar in my gas tank! what to do?

I got a locking gas cap on my truck.
I would get that flushed out and hope none of the sugar works its way up to the injectors since there is no filter except for the fuel pump filter.
After all is said and done get a locking gas cap!
Maybe also look into getting someone or yourself figure out a gas filter system. Maybe there is an aftermarket kit available. Good luck.

thanks for the help guys! turns out that a screen in the filler hose and the sugar didnt make it past that. i just taped a piece of air hose to a vacuum and sucked the sugar out. no harm done. but if i find out who did it there will be some harm done to him!

Re: someone put sugar in my gas tank! what to do?

Well, sugar wont disolve in gas anyways...

Id try and get word out that it cost you money to fix and tow, and see if you can smoke out a culprit.

Piss off any women latley? They are the only ones dumb enough to beleive the gastank sugar myth... Must have had sand in her v@gina :)

Re: someone put sugar in my gas tank! what to do?

went to put gas in it today and the gas wouldnt go down the fill hose. i came back to the house and took the bed off and took the fill hose completely off. found that there was still a good bit of sugar in it so i got it out and all it good now. i also had to take a pic of it with the bed off.

heres the first thing you need to do:
not piss people off (don't take that the wrong way), second flush tank and change sock on filter, if it was a older vechile i would say dont worry about it, my buddy had a ranger someone added sugar to, its still driving around today like 4 years later with no issues

speaking of adding stuff to gas tanks my buddy told me there was some stuff that they were using to kill cash for clunker cars, anyone know what he was talking about? I have some junk cars i need to get rid of and I prefer the asses at the yards out by me to not get running engines or trannys, because I dont like them they always try to srew me, I usually just run them out of oil and throw some sand down the intake, but that stuff would be much easier than that

Sodium Silicate...Basically salt water and sand, but in a kind of suspended compound. You pour it in and it pumps through the oil system...it begins to eat the bearings, the silicate (sand) comes out of suspension and locks up the bearings as it becomes, almost glassy. killing the engine. the salt water makes sure that no metal inside the engine is salvagable due to extreme corrosion.
