  • 96-98 Engine wiring harness.

I am not sure where else to post this. I am planning on trying to find another wiring harness for my truck so I can do the 0411 PCM swap outside of the truck. then swapping it in when I swap the new motor in. What are the differences in the 96-98 wiring harnesses, if any? And if I do have to find one from a 98 are there any differences in the 98 wiring harnesses that I need to lookout for?

Are you planning on doing the 411 swap with the stock motor? If so, I would not want to rip the whole harness out. It really is just repinning the connectors at the PCM and only takes a few hours.

No it will be with the new motor. I am just envisioning dropping the motor into the truck all put together and figured repining it would be easier on my back done on a work bench rather than leaning over fender.

The only differences I have noticed was in the Evap system. 96-97 are slightly different than 98-00. The rest of the engine seems to be wired the same.

Good to know, I will try to find a complete harness next time I am at a yard.
