    From beginning to end...

If I had it to do all over again and was on a $$ minded budget here's what I would do.

Alpine 7998 $399 on sale at www.sounddomain.com right now. This deck retails for $799 and even ebay's sellers are higher than this.

CDT cl-61's for $150 at www.thezeb.com. Front component set.

    2 10" ID V3's. On sale for $100 at www.sounddomain.com or

2 10 ID Max's. On sale for $280 each at SD.

For amps I'd look at getting a matching set of JBL, US Acoustics, Linear Power, Clarion and if you're ok with used amps look for Arc, Zapco, TRU (though even used these are still big $$), DLS, etc. This is where you'll spend the most money, but if you look hard enough and not get in a hurry you can get good deals on nice equipment. For Example, I bought both my arc amps used. Retail on them both (Arc 4150 & 1500) would run around $1500, and I picked up the 4150 for $400 and the 1500 for $375.

i just got my 7998 deck - im about to install it with the cdts... for subs, you might look at the eDk v.2 for $80 each. thats my system - all powered by a directed 1100d5.

    HU - 400
    cdts - 150
    subs - 160
    amp - 500 - at nexxon.com
    sound ded - 80(?)
misc - build box, amp kit, etc. - 70(?)
03/04 HU adaptor (keeps chimes) - 70 - you wont need this.
    metra kit & ant. adaptor - 20

thats my system. i got the amp for much less than 500 - but thats the cheapest ive seen it online.
