got the new termlab sensor system in and set up. i don't know wtf. i lost my placement jig, so i had guess the exact placement for the sensor. the best i threw was a 148.4 or .8 (one of those 2) @33hz. i'll tackle deeper into it this weekend. my coils were also good and warm by then.

the sensor is the new meter system replacing the mic at competitions. from what i have seen so far, peoples numbers are 5 to 7 db less using the sensor than what they would be with the mic. for comparison, idbl_fanatic broke his front windshield with a 149.9 on the sensor. i just have to make sure i am above a 154.2 old mic numbers.
is this sensor pricey and what does it connect to a laptop or something

i wasn't sure which one. i almost posted both, but i thought you might have already known what i was running from my other posts.Originally Posted by idbl_Fanatic
2 treo ssx 15's, 2 autotek mx 5000's. now that my mind has cleared, i did a consistent 145.7, i accidently left my drivers window down (getting hot in the closed up cab) when i did the 148. here's a trick that gained me a half a db or more last night. to better in phase my subs and electrical signals, (2- 2 ch amps) i put, say L ch to coil 1 on sub 1 and the R ch to coil 1 on sub 2. then i took R ch on amp 2 and put it to coil 2 on sub 1 and L ch to coil 2 sub 2. none the less, i don't like that number, even though it is an sql set up. i'll be doing some more fartin' around this weekend.
Or you can just set the gains with a DMM ;)Originally Posted by 95stroked1500
yea, i do that on all amps. L & R running highs if there are seperate gains for the channels, match gains for 2+ amps on subs, etc.. way back when started studying into the deep technical part of audio, i saw where a guy claimed up to a 3 db loss(with the same total power), using a differernt amp for each sub, in a 2 sub, 2 amp system. due to the fact that the speed that the signal travels through the 2 amps, will not come out in perfect phase to the subs. i did so much trying this and that, in so little time, not letting the coils cool, and farting around, i can't give a dead on gain for what i did. i know it was at least .5 db. i'm thinking it was more like 1 +, but i prefer to be conservative when guesstamating. if you ever have the opportunity, give it a try and let me know the results you get.Originally Posted by idbl_Fanatic
