Direct iPod install

Anyone know if on my 96 delco radio with aux. cd player I can add a direct input in the back of the radio. Was wondering if I can add a twin cable input where the cd player comes in? On my radio I have to select aux. to play the stock cd player. I dislike the fm modulator because of too much fm station interfence. I would also use this for my XM input. I plan to remove the radio but thought perhaps someone could save me the trouble. Thanks.
