If your box is sealed it should make absolutely no diff.. If yor box is vented AND you have a voice coil vent in your magnet you could be robbing it of some airflow..

It is a sealed box and the sub does have a voice coil vent on the magnet. I am worried that it will make the sub overheat or something.Originally Posted by Ssecca

I know from reading the owners manual on a JL Audio 12" w6v2 that they require a minimum of 3/4" of space behind the magnet. Thats why I coudnt use them. Here is a link to the adobe version of the owners manual.
