Ok, so me being the retard I am realized that the Ascendant Audio Assassin was only a single voice coil @ 4 ohms... this won't do cause I need 2 ohms. Right now I really dont want to think about car audio any more.. so I'm leaving this one up to you guys.. I need something that will do well in around .8 cubic feet sealed, and does well with only 280 watts rms @ 2ohms. SQ is more important than SPL

Heres the links to all the poll choices... Let me know what you picked and why or leave your own suggestion. Goin in a reg. cab so the sub cant be too deep...under $120 ish.

Re: Help me pick a sub!!!

yeah i think im gonna go with a dayton... there is actually a guy that sells em right over in Utah soo ill probably order from him instead of parts express in the hope of cheaper shipping.. should i get the high fidelity or high output... im only gonna be giving it 280 rms... hah.. some of the values change to make the HF require a bigger box... if you could look at these values?

    Param. 10HO 10HF

    Fs 24 Hz 22 Hz

    Qms 4.2 2.8

    Qes 0.36 0.45

    Qts 0.33 0.39

    Vas 34 L 60 L

    Re 3.4 Ohm 3.3 Ohm

    Le 1.75 mH 0.95 mH

    VC Dia 2.5" 2.5" cm

    Xmax 12mm 14mm

    Power 600W RMS 350W RMS
    1000 W Max 600 W Max

    SPL 87 dB @ 2.83V/1m for both

i mean the comp vr is the only one ive heard and it doesnt sound bad to me but i mean thats also listening to it at us tech and circuit city... soooo. blah. im gonna order my headunit and amp wiring kit tomorrow... i cant wait to start getting packages from ups

oh and for the same price as the dayton, what is the story on adire audio shivas? ive heard some people complain of things breaking...

Re: Help me pick a sub!!!

    1st choice = Dayton.
    2nd choice = Kicker.

I'm not a fan of the Orions, and don't care for the JBLs. Don't have any experience with the Crystal's, so I can't comment on them.

I have an older 12" Kicker Comp VR that I have been very satisfied with, but I'm planning on running 2 12" Dayton HO's later this summer. I've heard good things about them, and for the money, they're worth a try!

you can find IDQv2 online for 120ish. Better driver than any you listed with exception of the Dayton.

I have used several comp vr's and have been very pleased. i would also suggest buying off of ebay. u can get a comp vr 10" for probly $60-$70 shipped. i got mine from ebay and have had no trouble at all with them.

You may want to look at both versions of the Dayton; the HF and the HO (same price). In case you are not aware, unless I'm mistaken, the HF version requires a larger enclosure than does the HO version - just in case you have space constraints. The Parts Express tech people can help you with any questions.

Might I suggest you look at the 11Kv.2 sub by Elemental Designs.
This would fit your need nicely as well.
Out of your options Id go with the Dayton (whichever version fits your box size/ power specs)

ed builds ed stuff. They may use some of the same suppliers as ID as far as baskets and things like that go, not sure.

ed doesn't not build any of their own stuff. it is all from buildhouses elsewhere.

Image Dynamics used to make eD's speakers, but as with every buildhouse previous to the current one, there were several issues that arose on the eD side and the buildhouses moved on. if i remember correctly, lack of timely payment was the issue at hand for Image Dynamics.

You're right. I guess what I should have said is ed's stuff isn't just an ID item with an ed logo slapped on it.
