    Alot of older headunits had a 1A fuse in a twistlock fuseholder on the remote out, newer units don't. If you short the remote wire you will kill its output from the headunit, thus needing to send it out for repair. You sure can put a fuse on this wire.

    i think that i will put a fuse on the remote wire
    i paid too much $$$$ to see something happen to it
    why would the new head units not come with fuses on the remote wire?

    the output of the remote wire is fused through the fuse thats on the deck. if it shorts out it will blow the fuse on the radio thus killing the power. it wouldn't hurt to put one on it but its not completely neccesary.

    Unfortunately this isn't the case. You would normally blow a diode on the pcb. Those fuses are to protect the circuts they are on.... 12v constant and ignition. Ive seen many decks come thru for install that function flawlessly but the remote out is toast.

    Of course, if it does die you can always wire it to the acc on wire...
