I've got an appointment on Friday to have a Viper 300 put in my truck. They guy told me that when I wanted to upgrade to a remote start, he would take my alarms brain and switch it with a 500 or 550 I can't remember which one for $179. Think that is a good deal? I'm having the 300 put in for $200 installed. Should I do the upgrade or wait and find it cheaper on Ebay? I'm also thinking of getting the window module on Ebay and putting those in myself. Should I attempt that? Thanks for all the help guys...:)

That is right in line with what they charge around here. $200 for the 300 and $399 for the 550. I would have them do it, if it were up to me. I bought mine off Ebay and had a buddy that installs viper's all day-every day put it in for me for $100. It can be done yourself, but what happened in mine is he has done so many and does them so fast he happened to short it out and fry it. He just tossed in another one from the shop and sent my back for replacement. If I would have done something like that I would be out the $150 I paid for the 550. make sense? I have a window module here I have to put in too so I can't tell you how hard that is yet.

I have the 550 in mine currently...If you do it on your own on the new ones there is a piece you will need to but to bypass the theftlock stuff about 20 bucks...Now what is the window modual you guys are talking about and what will it do for me?

The window thing is a 530t. It will roll up your windows/sunroof when you arm the alarm. you can also roll them up/down from the key fob. You can find them for about $70 on the web.

From what I know, the 300 only has 3 channels on the remote. I have a 2 button remote. The 500 has a 4 button remote and more channels for options. I chose the 300 because I use the first button for arm/disarm, the second button will roll my windows down, and both the buttons will start my truck, when I get the modules installed.....:)

That's probably it. I've got seperate arm/disarm buttons, a panic button, and one for an accessory.
