I have an 06 chevy single cab with a memphis power reference 12" and a power acoustic 520 amp in a pro-box thats ported. I think the speaker isn't loud enough and i want something that is really loud. I don't wanna get rid of my box though sooo i'm looking for a 12" speaker that will be louder. all i wanna do is get a new speaker and new amp. soo any suggestions on a new speaker and new amp would be nice.

pro box is a great box. but they not designed to be really nutz, that is where custom comes in.
if you have about 300w or so @ 4 ohm, look into a DD 512. they're about $120 msrp. they're designed to hit pretty good without much power.
like tribal said, you're all around best bet to get louder, is build yourself a box.
I bet it's less the drivers fault, then the power...I'd add more power...
yeah i dont imagine the pro box was designed with the correct volume or tuned to the correct frequency for your sub.

yeah i have that problem. i have to kicker CVX 10's with amps matching their specific output (600w rms 1200w max) and the box they are in is really holding back the performance of these subs. I'll sort to the manual to build a box that will get these babies booming. Don't get me wrong, the subs still vibrate your clothing when your outside it, but it deffinetly could be louder. as for a new sub, i recommend the kicker CVX12. look for it on ebay, i got mine their cheap

glad you like the CVX's, we appreciate that :)
thats what i was looking at the CVX12. also which amp and size should i go with because every audio shop i talked to said the amp i have sucks, i have a power acoustik.
Kicker ZX7501. :)
a 12" Alpine Type R will get really loud for the money but they need like 600-700 watts rms..
yes i love the kickers. matched up great with the ks65's i got in the doors (amplified also). as for amps, i would love to have a kicker amp but they are so damn expensive. I know they are worth the money but hard to come up with that much lol. expecially for the draw these new CVX's have. I believe the cvx12 is like 800w rms and 1600 max or somewhere around that. im not totally sure but try to find an amp that can match up with the specs on the cvx12. If you have ever heard a great setup with a cvr, just imagine how crazy the cvx's are with the new technology in it. my subs weigh almost 20lbs a piece! crazy power with these things. highly recommend them man.

You really, really need to pick something that matches the volume that you have in your box if you are going to keep it. A budget sub in a perfect box with an appropriate amp will completely smoke in both volume and SQ an excellent sub with a poorly designed box, especially if the amp is arbitrary as well. For anyone to recommend a sub for that box we would need the exact interior volume and if it is ported both the shape, size, and length of the port along with real rms values from your amplifier. If you are unsure of what these are you could post links to the manu site for what you have as I am too lazy to google it for you.

I have always been a huge Kicker fan. For the price Kicker has a very good product. It was less than 10 yrs ago if you wanted good named brand power from a amp you paid atleast $1 a watt.Originally Posted by WickedRado
