Ok so I have to make a smaller box in order to cut a hole in my midgate and mount it to that so my truck will stop leaking...I'm even thinking about getting a new vehicle just to have better sound.

I want to go with one amp and either a 10 or 12 W6 or W7..

IYO are the W6s and W7s the loudest subs that are still crystal clear or what? I was probably gona get a new W6 or a used W7. And would yall stick to 1 sub for SQ? I think im gona throw my components out the ****ing windows and put the stock pioneers back in there and deaden the doors...

Any opinions? I really want better sound quality

    Re: New system...SQ PLEASE!

When i did my current set up i went and listend to both W7s and W6s, and IMO the W6s sounds cleaner at hight volume then the W7s so now i have 3 12inch W6s in my tahoe and even when its loud still sounds very clear. I wouldnt run stock speakers in the doors if your want SQ, just get better ones. What you running now in the doors?

Well not stock, cheap pioneer coaxils. The JL VR600s just dont work for me...i will tune them today and see what I can do. Im just talking about substage SQ right now.

Damn 3 W6s, nice setup. You think 1 12in W6 would get pretty loud with about 1000W and still sound good?

    No they aren't the loudest.

I personally prefer 1 sub, but don't really think in an SQ setup that the sub is ever the culprit of not having enough output the front stage is.

Remember there is a direct trade off between SPL & SQ, they are exact opposites when it comes to enclosure building and the enclosure makes a much bigger difference than drivers (within reason).

As for the TC, there stuff is nice but it is pointless to discuss without knowing what enclosure or space you have to work with.

you are going to change vehicles just for the option of filling up the hatch area with subs? Why not save the hassle, and build your bed area with a blow-thru design. You can add a chit load of subs back there. Besides, you cant say you are using your truck bed to haul things when you are thinking of getting a Tahoe..since you still cant haul things unless you have a trailer.

I agree that you can have a great system if you limit your subs to a pair max. It all depends on what you want to achieve. If you want 4 subs, then most likely you really dont want SQ.

And im changing vehicles for more than one reason...

And I dont want to fill up any area with subs....just one sub. I already took the midgate out and am using a 6ft^2 box.

the W6 is 400w rms, so I dunno if I would put 1000w to it. I have 2 W6s now, but used to have just one and loved it, very composed speaker and sounded great

okay, i must have read the post incorrectly. I still ask however do you want to go with a sealed box or a vented (ported) box?

For a SQ setup I would go with a sealed box.

    Re: New system...SQ PLEASE!

Sealed boxes make no sense to me. I dont see how it produces sound. Theres no sucking or blowing of air...it just like moves air around inside of the box...seems really wierd to me.

I still want it to be loud, just good sound quality. I think ported will be the best.

Remember, all it has to beat is 2 12" L7s with about 1000 watts a piece in a 6ft^2 box...should be TOO hard lol

    Re: New system...SQ PLEASE!

Mine are in a Sealed Box, and trust me it get very loud. It makes the Rear A/C controls and air vents in the roof fall out. If your that worried about SQ i would really run sealed.

and sorry but 1 W6s isnt going to be louder than the 2 L7s you speak of.

    Re: New system...SQ PLEASE!

The system your putting together sounds like anything BUT SQ oriented. I think you've thrown everyone for a loop by asking for "SQ PLEASE" and then making comments like this:

I think im gona throw my components out the ****ing windows and put the stock pioneers back in there
    and this:

Sealed boxes make no sense to me. I dont see how it produces sound. Theres no sucking or blowing of air...it just like moves air around inside of the box...seems really wierd to me.

I still want it to be loud, just good sound quality. I think ported will be the best.

It seems that you are not shooting for SQ as your end goal. If you want SQ, then you need to re-visit the installation of your components before going any further. Deaden the doors and give the correct power cleanly. After that is done and sounding sweet, look into one really good sub in a sealed enclosure that will supplement your front stage. Have you ever heard a nice sealed enclosure???

It seems to me at this point that all you want is louder from a smaller box. I apologize if I'm wrong, but it's hard for people to help you when you are so unclear about what you want.
