Theres a thread called "help me install a head unit in a 93 burban", you can find some info there. We charge $35-45 on a head unit installation in those trucks, depending on if they got the radio from us or not.

My friends 91 C1500, she want to put her cd player in it. WHy the hell did GM put the radio and cassette player in seperate locations in those damn trucks. How stupid. She told me a place around here would carge 100bucks for the installaion of it and her sub. Does the h/u hook up to the radio or casstte player when installed. It cant be too complicated despite the design and layout GM effed over.

my head unit is where the cassette player went. doesn't matter that the radio was in a different spot. they pull the connections off of that location and move it to the head unit. what i have left in the old radio location is a little hollowed out shelf with grooves to hold CDs... of course, that doesnt work too well because they fly out with a little bit of throttle!
100 is pretty standard around here because you have to remove the tuner box behind the dash. that is where you will find the wiring harness for the new headunit as well as the ANT. wire. (you will need the ANT adapter)

You dont have to remove it. You can just unplug it if you know where it is, which anyone working at a shop should know.

The real question is, would you want to get charged from a normal fee of $40 to a fee of $100 for someone to take out that useless piece of crap out from under your dash?

So basically she can just have the cd player put in like any other vehicle. You can use the radio or cassette connector to plug it up, cool.
yes but you have to use adapters

no Jax, you put adapters on the harnesses that go into the radio brain under the dash by the gas pedal.

okay now how do you remove either the radio or tape player? Im just trying to help out a friend so maybe she can do it herself.
you remove the torx screws in the corners of the tirm aournd your gauges and the radio is mounted behind those. then you pull the trim around the tape player and its mounted to that. your HU will go back where the tape player was.

what about putting it where the radio is at?
It wont fit there, the only thing that goes there is the radio delete pocket if you bought it, but as you stated it didnt come wiht it so for now you can just leave it or make your own little pocket to go in its place. But the HU goes in place of the tape player.Originally Posted by JaxRhapsody
