    Amp for Dayton HO's?

I just ordered a pair of 10” Dayton HO’s and I am looking for an appropriate amp to push them. My amp budget is firm at $350 and I plan to wire them in parallel for a 2 ohm load. I am currently looking at the Hifonics BXi2008D and the Kicker Zx1000.1. They are both comparatively priced. The Hifonics amp claims 1300w RMS at 2 ohms and the Kicker at 1000w. I know the Hifonics is overrated on output and the Kicker is probably underrated so the decision is probably a no brainer. I just wanted to get some opinions before I pulled the trigger. Which one would you choose or are there other options I haven’t found? Thanks for your help.

Those Kicker's are usually underrated. Go Kicker

First off what size enclosure are you putting the daytons in. Ported or sealed? These subs are very enclosure dependent for power handling.

Read this before deciding on enclosure size

This sub shines in roughly .3 cube sealed net.

I plan on a sealed, down firing eclosure, under the rear seat.

Out of those choices, the Kicker is a no brainer no matter what the enclosure is. They will however work stellar under your seat. Nice choices!!

I would go with the kicker. Imo it is a better amp. Any kicker amp I have ever owned was beat on and never lost a beat. Put those subs in about .3 to .4 net and don`t look back. Should sound great. I have the same subs and am putting them in .5 gross just wish I had time to finish the install.

Is gross and net referring to before and after sub displacement?

Correct, gross is the enclosure itself and net is the enclosure with the sub installed. Make your enclosure .5 to.55 gross and all is good. I would suggest making it a little big maybe .7
or .8 and use 2 by 4 blocks to get the sound right for you.
