I am in charge of planning the trail rides for a 4x4 weekend up here in NH. The rough idea of what I have in mind is that I need something that I can set a starting waypoint and it'll record my exact path. I am needing to plan atleast a dozen or so. I then need to be able to name them...the reason for this is incase I for some reason cannot lead it, that someone in my place can follow my set course. I wasn't too worried about color or the extra turn by turn directions but to be honest I wouldn't mind paying a couple hundred more for a model that does have all the bells and whistles that I can pull out of the jeep and put in my truck for long road drives. So I stopped in and talked to Best Buy and Circuit city. Both shops recommended Etrex by garmin for the offroad aspect but neither could recommend 1 device for both my trucks needs. Anyone have a GPS that they use offroad and are very happy with?

they nailed it...the etrex will take anything you throw at it offroad. I had one mounted on my raptor's handlebars and it never fell off. I rolled a couple times in the dunes and that thing didnt turn off...even recorded how many feet I rolled down hill! Id say get the top of the line etrex (It was the Legend few yrs back).
