I am an audio newbee but I do know that the way it sounds now is like crap. I have a 99 LT Sub with the Delco Tape Head Unit with a factory remote CD. This truck has 8 speakers I have tried to do my research but like all things GM you are both astounded by their brilliance and stupidity at the same time. I don’t want to spend over $300 nor do I need “pro” sound I just want to be able to crank the radio and overcome wind noise.

Head Unit: From all research it’s hard to beat the Delco unit I have for price/performance with it putting out a clean 100W through 4 channels. So I plan on keeping it but I do have some burned out lights and from what I can tell they are a Royal PITA to replace, I may try to pick up a new HU on Ebay.

    Front/Rear Doors:
Buy four of these Kenwood 6.5” 2 Ways and forego the factory “tweeter”
    KFC-1660S
    35-22,000 Hz
    2-35W
    92db Sens
    4 Ohms

    Cargo Area
Most research indicates that the rear 4x10’s no matter how much $$ you throw at them will never sound “good” so here is where I have the big question:

Should I attempt to bridge the output of the factory 4x10’s which should put out 50 Watts and go with a 12” Kenwood sub and a bandpass filter, and build a box

    OR

Use the speaker level inputs to drive a powered sub like this

    KSC-WD250T

    http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entert...ers/KSC-WD250T

I think that I will get much better sound from the powered package but I hate to “waste” 2 channels

    Thoughts suggestions?

    Thanks for any help
