I need some information from people who have more than 2 monitors in their truck. I was wondering how you split the signal up. Did you just use a typical RCA splitter, or what? I am planning on adding a few screens to my truck, and want to make a game plan, what to buy etc>......I want to add 4 screens to the Hoe. Was a video signal amplifier needed, or is there no signal degradation by splitting it up... any help is appreciated.

are you worried about seeing differant things on differant screens, or all in one type of thing. also hope it's a good laptop and video card, wouldn't want to burn it up.

Id run a splitter/amp just to be safe. That way you could control the feeds the one two or all at once....just an opinion

I've seen people split the signal with only 2 monitors, but I was wondering about 4 or more... and signal loss if any..

Would it be bad to use the laptop as a source? What's the drawback? It has DVD and a big screen. I am already currently using it, and I dont want to take it out. So I figured I would use it... dunno.. still learning

I have The Panasonic 700u headunit. I like it alot, but I dont really use it much. I play everything thru the laptop, and just use the aux input on the Head unit. I'm planning on keeping the Laptop as my front screen because I like the larger screen. But I want to add monitors to the head rests, and in the roof in the back where the factory rear speakers used to be, and control everything from the laptop. Eventually I want to replace My EQ with the PPI Eq that runs thru the laptop. and I also want to get a program for the Engine Performance, and run that from the Laptop as well.. so many Ideas.... Not enough Cash!!!!

    My system is set-up as
Main head unit/front screen/switching is the Alpine CVA-1005
i have two screens in the headrest and they run off each other...
I have the dvd run through the CVA and on the output i have it running to my left screen from the left screen it runs over the to right screen. But my rear screens have 2 inputs and 1 output.

If I where you I would get the 4 screens and (make sure you can daisy chain them together) try them and see how the video looks.... if the quility looks a lil low get a video amp to help the signal... This how makes all the screen view the same stuff.. If you want them to view other stuff it will just take a few more items....

    Hope this Helps

I don't know about your laptop but I think you'll need a laptop with graphics card that has multi-moniter capabilities. I have a newer Toshiba Satellite with a GeForce4 card built-in and I have run external video to my TV in my apartment to play DVD's. The thing is you have to set the resolution for the second moniter(s). In my case it was a TV so I set it to 800x600 (I think) while keeping my laptop at 1600X1200.

Now i have a question does the new GeForce4 card have the capability to hold a higher resonlotion while sending 2 differant signals out to 2 differant monitors...like if i wanted to watch 2 differant movies on 2 differant screens?

Only if one of those screens is the laptop screen. GeForce cards only support up to two moniters. One of those being your laptop screen. It maybe possible. If you had say a Dell laptop with two DVD players and two or more different DVD software programs. You could play one with WinDVD and the other with like PowerDVD, or Windows Media Player, or something. It would probably work like this like this: You have your laptop, that would be one screen. And through the video-out you basically have RCA-out jacks to a second moniter. Of course you could probably split that signal to additional moniters. Anyway, if all worked correctly, you'd start one on the laptop screen. Then start the other one and drag it over to the second moniter(s). I'm wondering if you could watch the movie on the second moniter(s) in full screen or in a window only, though. I guess that would be up to Windows and/or the DVD software you're running. Best to just watch one movie in full screen all around.

I was looking at upgrading myself

I have the panasonic 7" flip out, the one when they first came out, sorry don't remember part numbers off hand. I noticed a lot of the new units have 2 zones where as the back seat can watch or listen to music while the front seat does something different.

That all being said, my main question is what screens does everyone recommend. I'm going with 2 in the front seat head rests for now.
