Ok...I know this has been talked about before..and I have searched..and managed to get myself confused and/or haven't found exactly what I am looking for. I like all different kinds of music..but what I am looking for in a system.. concerning the subs.. is a good swift kick in the butt when they hit. While I have nothing against bass'n out..I like the thump better. At anyrate, I have the pheonix gold rsd components for the doors. As of right now.. that is all I have. I have read that a kicker zx250.2 should pair up with those speakers pretty good. As far as subs.. I have no idea really.. I am looking at the KICKER COMP VR 07CVR122 12"(I want one behind each seat...total of two) I am not set on having 12's.. 10's would be fine... I think.. I have just been out of the audio for to long. At anyrate..I am looking for suggestions on speakers that hit harder than all get out... an amp to go with the sub.. and any suggestions as far as head unit, box dimensions, ported or not, subs, and amps. I appreciate any help/opinions or suggestions that y'all might have..
thanks
Anybody got any input?
the cvr's will be fine, as to ported or not up to the amount of space you have for the box for the subs. For an amp go with something that is a at least 800 rms at 1 ohm make sure you get 2 DVC 4ohm subs or 1 2 ohm DVC sub. As far as head unit anything aftermarket thats decent will work for you. Just dont buy no $20 one lol.
cool...thanks....I think I need an hu with two pre-amp outputs...I wasn't sure if ported or not would make the subs hit harder... I am thinking that a couple of 10's will work pretty good..but I really want a hard hitting sob....so..I am not sure....so... if I get an amp = or < 800 rms at 1 ohm and two 4 ohm dvc subs... do the subs need to be wired a certain way... lol.. back in the day.. we bought an amp and subs.. and wired from the amp to the + and - of each sub.. anyway.. thanks for the help
As far as HU your right you you need one with two out puts, If your limited with space then tens are the way to go so you can make the most out of it. Look at the minimum space required for ported and non ported. I prefer ported much better for my application, but like I said make sure you have the space for it. As for your amp Id go with something a little more than 800 rms from a company that actually puts that power out not cheap ass company's. As to how the wiring works heres the RF link should explain the wiring for you.

Cool...I was thinking on the amp.. maybe a kicker zx1000.1..I think.. that number maybe wrong..i will have to go look..

that is the link to the sub amp I was considering....I found it on a thread in this forum...anyway..
Naw its on down to 2 ohms, I would go with sundown audio they are great amps. http://www.db-r.com/sell/store2/inde...roducts_id=205
These amp are under rated so they will put out more then the 1k rms. This will fine just remember the box is whats gonna matter most so dont go with no crappy pre fab box either where you buying your cvr's from?
That fosgate link.. really helps out.. thank you for that
Not sure on the cvr's.. probably wherever I can get the best deal.. that I feel the company is legit...Plan on building my own box... I have some dimensions for one that supposedly will fit behind the seat no problem..
but I am gonna have to do some measuring and see if I can get my air space requirements right
yeah if you can build it will work out much better make it how you want it. Well Figure out dimensions because you can buy some 8" DD subs that will be great also and could take alot more power than the cvr's or might even just fit one 12 instead with more power instead of the CVR's which would be much better.
oh boy... here we go.. 8" DD.. what is the DD for? Being that I want a kick in the butt..throw me through the windshield punch off of the sub/subs... what are you thinking of for a speaker over the CVR's(back in the day.. Kicker was a heck of a company...so..that is why I lean that way)
well Like I said see what space you working with then we can discuss subs. DD is http://www.ddaudio.com/dd/default.asp great subs too. Kicker is ok but there is a lot of companies that are not mainstream that are way better. Like I said take measurements and see what you can fit.
I will take some measurements in the morning and post back.. thank you for all of your input an help....I really appreciate it.. Thanks
No prob any questions you can pm me if you like.
I found these same measurements on this board..and I double checked them and they are about the most that I can get away with.. anyway.. 14-1/2H x 56W x 5td x 8bd let me know what you think
Thanks..I appreciate the input... I am really hoping that I can mount an amp in between the two subs.. but if not..I will get them mounted elsewhere
you should be able to mount it in between the subs. if you are building your own box. then you can possibly have the middle recessed just enough to get the amp in there. or if all else fails, just mount them under the seat. the only problem w/ that is, is there might not be enough ventalation to cool it.
