I am in the process of installing 4 tens, two amps, and a 3 way crossover plus a new head unit. I have gotten everything in but have a very annoying "alternator whine" but the only problem is it does it even when the truck is not running if you turn the key back to the auxilary position. I have re-routed the RCA's , upgraded and chassis grounded the amps. and still have it. The high amp is a 4 channel Alpine and has a channel out. Thje amp is pretty old and I was looking to replcae it any way, Is this where the noise could be coming from? Never had this happen to this extent before any help or suggestions would be appreciated. The truck is a 2000 Gmc extended cab. Thanks

If it does it with the key off, there's a good chance it's the amp causing it.
