How much air space does the box have? what type of music do you listen to in your vehicle?
Are you going for SQ or SPL?
What did you have in there?
Is your box ported? or sealed?
how much power you got too push em?
How many you looking to run?

the subs that come to mind are Alpine Type S(if you dont want to run a ton of power) MB Quart(more SQ than ground thundering bass but still produces what most ppl want in a sub), PG Tantrum series, Clarion(not the absolute best but they are cheap in price and do the job, recommend these over Sony if that is what you have looked at), Oz Matrix series, and Kicker Comp or CompVR's(I personally dont recommend the L5 or L7 square subs, they are more distortion prone than a round sub.)
