I work at a high end used car dealer. I am inside porsches, M-B's, BMW's, audi's, maseratis etc every day. One thing they all seem to share is kick ass sound systems from the factory, and they all seem to have speakers in both the doors and the dash facing up towards the windshield. It makes me think they must be on to something right? Anyone do this in their OBS? How did it turn out? I have a kicker RS6 component set bi-amped with a zx650 4 channel amp in the stock locations in my front doors right now and they still don't sound as good as some of these stock cars on my lot.

As a rule, your sound quality is always going to be worse when projecting off of a surface, so having speakers shooting soundwaves into your windshield is not going to produce a true sound, and may lead to harsh highs. There are many factors that contribute to the sound quality and you can't really compare your truck to those cars just because of the shapes of the body styles and how the sound reflects. For a better sound you can try using kick panels to put the speakers on axis and/or mounting the tweeters in the dash if you haven't already.

I finally moved my tweeters up to my dash in the corner mounted to my a pillars about 1.5 years ago. Can't believe it took me so long too do so. Livened up my sound big time. Would be probably worth it for you to try it. I used pvc end cap for a mold and fiber glassed it to make the housing
