This is a discussion on is there any power filters? my airbags switchbox is creating a pop to my subs amp within the Audio/Video Electronics forums, part of the General Discussion category; well im wondering if anybody else has had this problem. i got my truck with some air bags on front ...
well im wondering if anybody else has had this problem.
i got my truck with some air bags on front and helps on rear and my valves AVS 7switchbox creates a pop on my subwoofers amp signal and can actualy make my amp go into protection mode for afew seconds sometimes.
its just starting to get on my nerves! i thought it was the ground since i had it on the cab but i switched it to the frame rail and still same pop when i release the switches. is there any kinda filter that i can slap on the switchboxes power input to prevent feedback that maybe going into my radios amp?

o ok WELL AT LEAST I KNOW IM NOT THE ONLY ONE.LOL
theres gotta be some way to stop it. just not sure if its the power wire or what is getting into my amplifiers signal somewhere!
i know some older radios have those like small black boxes which i thought they were some kinda filters inline for the radio but i really have no idea! im hoping i could find something like that to just slap on the power feed to the switchbox! i just dont have any old school radios anymore to test with.

Mine is doing it also. Its a grounding issue with the box I dont drive mine alot but I need to mess with it and fix it cause it is annoying.
Normally a capacitor across the switch will absorb electrical discharge pops. I am not sure I would screw around with airbags though.
Build a man a fire and keep him warm for a day. Set a man on fire and keep him warm for life.
a capacitor????????????? the switchbox has no ground wire. only a positive input and positive outputs. somebody has to know a way to fix it that has done it to there truck!

Usually noises like these are caused by a grounding issue somewhere in the system.
well i got dual batteries both with there own frame grounds but only 1 on the motor, both have there own alternator charge wire on my highpower alternator. and ive never had audio noises of any kind before i added this switchbox and airbags.
the switchbox just has a power input and my valves are grounded to the frame rail directly on a cleaned spot with a self drilling screw on it. all the valves are grounded to 1 largerer ground wire i believe its something like 10-12gauge wire. which should be ample and it still makes the noise even if i activate one single switch on the box and if i hit the both front switch for 2valves the pop is alittle louder.
my amplifier wire is ran under the truck and then thru the rear cab floor near my amplifier. and rca wires are ran down opposite side of truck inside and they never cross paths with the power wire on the switchbox.
im aware of most noise issues with stereo equipment and thats not the issue!
i just searched all my old wiring stuff and i dont have any old filters of any type to experiment with.![]()

Dumb ass question could the pop be coming in though HU and not the amp power wires/signal wires?

1998 Chevy K1500 - 5.7L - True dual exhaust, AIRRAID intake
My EAI switch box has both positive and negitive power terminals.
Well it never had a popping issue before. The radio is grounded to the dash frame and additional battery wire directly to the fuse box.
I got no other idea why. Only thing I can think of is putting a filter on the switchboxs power wire.

check all your grounds on you air management system Im sure thats where your problem is
Mine also has a"pop" about every 20 -30 sec. If I turn up the volume you can't hear it but, i'm sure it is still there. I only have an Air Lift Slam air kit. When I installed my duel elec. fans I had a constant noise when they were on. I fixed that with a ground loop isolator, but I still have the pop.
Well my air managment only has 1ground wire for the valves and I've moved that one once already with no change. And the pop is only when I let go of a air switch. No other time.
And my radio works fine but it pops my subs amplifer into protection mode sometimes. It resets itself but still sucks when ur bumpin, hit a switch and the bass cutts out![]()
Alpine flip out radio, and a rockfordF amp with mtx 8500 15s.

Most likely a groud issue. Dealt with it many times.
1993 K-Blazer Sport - Got it back!! Nice!
2005 Tahoe Z71 - For Sale
Nope still doing it, but I do think it is not as loud as it used to be. Also mine doesn't seem to be coming through the sub amp, I think it is more in my components.
