My guess would be road noise form running the rcas too close to the power cable, I would guess that because it gets louder as you drive, try running the rcas on the other side of the truck from the power cable maybe.

I have just finished the install of my alpine monitor. F'in love it. The only problem i have it that when i use it when driving, there is a slight wistle that comes from the audio. But only when driving. When im accelerating the sound is louder, but at a constant speed you can only hear it when the movie has no sound...(i.e. a break between scenes). I ran the av wires right under my cluster, over the steering wheel, past the fuse box and around the driver seat to the center seat where the ps2 is. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.![]()

It could be that or noise from the alternator. Theres a thing you can put on the positive cable to your head unit to stop the noise but I can't remember what its called.

Here's some possible problems that are causing it:
1) RCAs too close to monitor power cable.
Solution: Move RCAs and power cables away from each other.
2) RCAs too long.
Solution: change out RCAs to more of a proper length, or reroute for shorter distance.
3) Power cable picking up alternator noise.
Solution: Install noise filter on power cable.
If the length of the rca is a problem, and you can frun it any shorter...try changing out your RCAs to better RCAs...or to a ground loop RCA.
There are other possible problems, but these are the most common in my experience.

Are you running an aftermarket amp? Or is there any thing else in your system that requires a ground? The main cause of engine noise is usually a "ground loop". Make sure that everything in your system that requires a ground is grounded at the same place. Try everything above first, but if everything else fails, try what I said. Its guaranteed to work.
where do i get the noise filter? Everything is grounded to the same place and including the amp. The only thing thats not is the radar detector. I figured i shouldnt have run the wires on the same side of the truck but i wanted to save time. Now that you say that about the alternator im almost positive thats what it must be...but the noise filter would take care of that right? Ill also rewire the rca's...the ones i have are only six feet so i dont think that theyre too long.
Most of the alpine decks that I have seen come with an inline noise filter, including my c800........

It was from the rca's all going down the same side as the power wire. After i rerouted them to the passenger side noise went away...thanks.
