I have a kicker comp vr 10 in a q logic box now. I plan on upgrading the amp. But i have a feeling that its not gonna put out what i want. Has anyone put a kicker solo baric in a truck box that fits under that back seat of a truck? I m looking to do just 1 sub. Any pics or advice is well appreciated. Are these subs power hungry? What kind of watts should i look at powering it with. I am looking at a 10" sub. What is the difference between a L7 and a L5. Thanks in advance.

Well although i don't have 1 10 or even 1 12, i have 2 12" L7's in a largely ported box that utilizes the space that used to be my back seat. Now as far as the differance between the L5 and the L7, i've heard it, and it's there. my friend had 2 12" l5's in a similar box hitting pretty hard, but my setup was a bit harder hitting than that, and it was noticable. And my amp was only turned up less than half way while his was up over 3/4 of the way. The 10" L7 can handle 600watts RMS while as the 10" L5 can only handle 450 watts RMS now that's not max of course, because they are a bit underated, but close. For either application, i would say if you are doing a sealed enclosure, i would run 2, but you can make it sound good with one. I'm running a 1600 watt amp at less than half way with 2 12" L7's which are rated 150watts RMS higher then the 10" L7 and the draw isn't that bad without a cap and second battery, but i'm upgrading sometime soon. I'm going with a 220 amp alt dual battery setup and a 5.1 fd cap. If you want to see my sup enclosure here you go:
good luck with your decision, and i'll try to answer any questions you may have to the best of my knowledge.
Hope this helped.

I really like the idea of not having to remove the back seat. I especially like the whole entire "stealth" approach to systems. Loki yours is sweet, dont get me wrong. But as a college student I cant have that out in plain view. I know these subs really shine in large vented or ported enclosures. How will the sound in sealed enclosures? Would it be possible to make a larger sealed enclosure using the entire space under the back seat? I know that this will have to be "custom" made, so i know i m not gonna find it anywhere. thanks for all your help already

Hey man I have a 1998 Extended cab Z-71 and I have 2 L5 10's under my back seat. They are in a sealed box with 1000 watts going to them. I love how they sound, how clean and loud that they get. I would definatley go with the L5's and get 10's because that is the biggest you will fit without having to raise the seat and other stuff.Originally posted by 96Blackz71

like dirty said, you can fit a couple, but if you just want one, i would build it to kickers sealed specs. you wouldn't need anymore than that. sealed enclosures are designed to operate at certain specifications that do not require a large amount of air space. just look on the kicker website or the leaflet that comes with the subs and it will tell you how much room you will need and basically how to build the box. want my opinion build a 3 part sealed enclosure, leave room for the amp in the middle and throw 2 10's under that seat...thats just me, or you could gut out the bottom of your seat and turn it into an amp rack...there's a lot you can do to keep it stealth, you could gut out the back of the seat somewhat and put the subs on the back wall and put the seat over it, but i would shave the shag and make sure there's at least an inch off the top of the amps, and make sure they are cooled...

Just curious, is it possible to 2 12" L7's in a standard cab truck? My seat is already moved forward for my Alpines, and I refuse to get any closer then I already am.

not sure about the 12's, but i know the 10's will FORacing has 2 of them in his rcsb i saw that this weekend. just depending on how far back you need to sit i'm sure, i wouldn't think you would be too comfortable, but it may be possibleOriginally posted by Sr2003
