Ok, heres the deal i'm tryin to rebuild my system on a budget. And i decided i want 2 10" L7s most likely and probably a jbl 1200.1 since i can gte both real cheap compared to most places. But if i run the jbl 1200.1 and a small amp for components on my stock 105 alt with biggest diehard gold is it gonna be able to take it? Are my lights gonna dim and battery die all the time? What if i upgrade power wire from alt to 0/1gauge will thta do any good? I can't afford to dual up batteries or get bigger alt so i need to know if i need to change plans to something smaller. thanks

    No its not stock height!

I would guess that your lights are gonna dim when you push the system hard. Your battery will last as long as you're not running your system at full tilt with the engine off for extended periods of time.
It is always a good idea to upgrade the big 3 wires (Bat to starter, bat to alternator, and ground) to a larger gauge. It will NOT solve a dimming problem, but will help.

I'd say you can get by...

My lights would dim pretty bad when I had a JBL 600.1 and a 80.4. I think my alt. (factory) is similar in output to yours.

i had a 2000 watt fosgate custom built system in my truck with 3 optimas batteries on a stock 100 amp alt.
a cap will certainly help with lights dimming, it will also make more of an steady drain on the batts and electrical system instead of the bass amp always pulling the surges off the batts.
you will find caps in almost every appliance that has a compressor in it. refrigerators/air conditioners, if they didnt help feed that surge of power then they wouldnt be around.
1 farad is what i ran with great success.

I ran a 1200 watt amp of a stock alternator in a 89 chev, only time the lights dimmed was when the truck was off.

    I have 2 Logic 3000watt 10's EX1000's

powered by a BOSS Powerdrive 3000watt amp.

I run off 2 gauge power and ground, i killed my stock battery, which was a huge diehard. I defintely recommend grabbing an Optima yellowtop.

Is the 600.1 pushing a 1 ohm load by any chance? Mine would dim pushing 1 ohm, but they barely dim at 2. On the other hand, I'm getting a 1200.1 next week, I may have more of a problem then.

I had it running at 2 ohms. I would think the draw would be the same at 2 or 1, since the output is the same. That's weird. I had the 80.4 running at 4ch, 4 ohm each. That was with the factory battery, which I have since replaced, and the 600.1 is idle now. No dimming with the 80.4 and an interstate battery as of yet

Trust me, the draw is much more at 1 ohm.

i have an alpine head unit (7893 65wattx4) w/ 6cd changer(mp3)/xm radio going to stock speakers front and rear(93 k5 blazer) and to 2 amps-(1)2400watt legacy-to-2 1000watt Koiler subs in a bandpass box. (2) 2200 legacy-to-2 800watt volfenhag subs in a sealed box. it made a big difference when i added a 2 farrad capacator. i`m in the process of adding a second battery, and capacator (for the oncoming dark season!) i`m going to use 00gage wire for power,
