You didn't say tonnage, but being that its a short fleet, I'll guess half ton 2WD. Expect 11-12 if you're good at keeping your foot out of the gas, 8-10 if you have a heavy foot. You also didn't state the transmission or gears, if you have 3.07's you can probably get away with some pretty descent mileage (for a truck) where as 4.56's will get you off the line fast but limit your top end and kill your mileage.Originally Posted by micus
If you want to make a descent sized dent in that mileage, I would highly recommend an overdrive transmission instead of what your truck currently has (probably an SM465 if a manual or TH350 if automatic). That and fuel injection would also be a wise idea. Having put TBI on my '72 Cheyenne/20, I really really really hate carbs and don't ever think I'll go back. Next summer (when I have money) I'm going after a set of aluminum heads and an LT1 intake.
Any chevy truck owner that can't hold their own against a riced honda civic should be shot and dumped in a shallow grave.also, since this is my first truck/car ever, i have no prior driving knowledge so when i do drive it i will have nothing to base weathers its fast or not on, so id also like to kno, do u think it will be fast? like fast enough to be abel to pull up beside a civic and not worry about it beating me fast?
That said, if your truck has been modified it should do descent against the hondas, but racing stoplight to stoplight your problem will be hooking up - if your truck doesn't have some sort of positraction or locker in the rear, you will have a difficult time (at least with stock width tires) getting proper traction to put your modified engine's power to the ground.
