Gonna re redo the engine. The engine has only about 10k, but it broke a ring land. I'm thinking 383. I may go ahead and do a semi frame off. Nothing to drastic, as it's a daily. I don't need a powdercoated frame. I do want to replace all the mounts, and suspension bushings.

Well, you can't daily drive it like that!! :) Do you have any other plans as you tear into the engine and then get your truck back together?
Yeah. I'm gonna rebuild the TH400. I'm probably going with the 383, but with lot's of low end torque and mid range horsepower. I want to keep it streetable, but yet let it roll from time to time. I have a Z-28 for the fast stuff.
I hope to notch the rear, finally. I really want to swap to a fleetside bed. As said before, would like to replace all bushings. Oh, yeah it needs a steering gearbox.
Sounds like quite the project! I've got a 77 that I'm restoring with 350/330 hp crate motor and a built th350 behind it. I'd like to put in 3.73 or 4.10 gears with posi at some point. I don't want a blazing fast truck but I definitely want it pretty quick. As it sits right now with its 3.23 gears and no posi it's already pretty quick but getting traction is a problem as you might be able to understand:)
anyway, cool project man!
Yeah, I got 2.73 gears. I want 3.08 or 3.23. I'll have enough torque to overcome the high gear, but wiil still pull decent rpm's on the Hwy. It'll still be quick. I also don't do much hauling or towing with it.
