yep, the older SPID lists (Service Part Identification) gave descriptions, it was nice. but as vehicles became more and more optioned, they pretty much had to revert to just giving the codes...

I got a High Sierra, thought the body is a C1500 body of a 2WD diesel. All I know is the frame/drivetain/engine, are all 'Camper Special' options.
Autozone Red Shirt
1979 Frame/Drive-Train|JB7 Disc Brakes All Around|1981 C1500 cab and bed|350 SBC to be replaced w/ 383|TH350 w/ NP203|10 Bolt Front|14 Bolt Full Floater Rear|Aluminum Direct Drive Flex Fan|Auxiliary Electric Fan|Heavy Duty Water Pump|3 Row Radiator|Aux Trans Cooler
This is my newest acquisition; A 1992 GMC Sierra 4X4 that I purchased last night for $60.00 CDN. Everything worksYes You did read that correctly: sixty dollars
So Ok it isn't a classic but it is well worth the money I got it for
