i'll dig into the parts books in a few minutes and see if i can come up with a number. you're just looking for a straight chrome step bumper with no impact strip, right?

GM part number 14043836 should get you what you're looking for.

ok well where do i search for that at and is that the chrome one?
sorry for not knowing this stuff.
mine was chrome.....some jackhole painted it silver. its comming off for a rollpan anyway.
yes, its a chrome fleetside step bumper without rub strips. specifically listed for 79-84 (could be that i got it out of the 79-84 catalog) but they're the same.

what catolouge is it lmc or the gm one?
bc i dont want lmc i need gm if it is a gm catalougue please tell me where i can get one.
grease has all the gm books. i think lmc is a swearword in his house.
hahaha yeah lmc is a swearword im my house too thats why i keep stressing i want only real GM parts haha.
but grease um could you help me in anyway to get one of these books to order a bumper for my pickup anyway.
thanks.
they're VERY tough to come by, and they're not cheap at all. spent $120 on my 73-78 catalogs. you can sometimes find one or the other on EBay, though not very common to find both together. and they're not any good without the other. i got lucky and snagged my 79-84 catalogs on Craigslist 5 minutes after they were posted for $20 ea. felt bad because they were donated to a church as part of a fundraiser so i gave him $60 for the two parts manuals (illustration catalog and then a part # catalog), and an 84 C/K service manual.
they're a little tricky to use too, gotta read VERY carefully and understand your model numbers and option codes. find what you want in the illustration catalog, it will give you a group number, then go to the parts catalog, find the group, and the type of part it is. then you get the fun of deciphering what model you have and what option codes it has.
having the book wont actually get you the ability to order parts, just to look them up. i still have access to GMSPO, so i can check pricing and stock on parts.
SPO says that that part number is discontinued, though there are 2 in stock in the warehouse. Wholesale price is 391.09, and list price is 521.47. hopefully you have friends at the dealership who will sell it to you at wholesale.

and LMC is not a dirty word, just a secondary source if GM cant get me what i need and i cant find it in a junkyard.

i did manage to find an 85/86 catalog on EBay, its an early print.

the 87-91 R/V catalog it a bit tougher to find, thus more expensive. it comes attached to the 85/86 catalog.

it still may end up in my collection...
